. This study brings to discussion the recording and analysis of execution times (from the moment when weights leave the platform until the upper limbs are stretched with barbell above). The study is part of an extensive research that aims, in a first phase, at all categories of athletes participating in weightlifting competitions. Recording and measurement were performed using the AviSynth software program consisting of: video camera - JVS digital camcorder, electronic computer, tripod, laptop, video monitor and video tapes. In this regard, our research presents the recording and analysis of execution times in the clean and jerk event, for some top weightlifters at the European level, participants in the European Weightlifting Championships of 2009, held in Bucharest, Romania. Hypothesis.Identification of execution times for the clean and jerk event provides the opportunity to compare the athletes and consequently to make correlations and observations on the achieved performances. Objectives.1. To check the possibilities of using computerized imaging technique in the barbell lifting technique for the clean and jerk event. 2. To identify the execution times in weightlifters for the clean and jerk event, by recordings and measurements performed with the AviSynth software program. Subjects. The research included ten male weightlifters (aged between 21 and 33 years) from different countries, namely two athletes from Romania and athletes from Poland, Croatia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Belarus, Slovakia, Russia and Albania, with one athlete each. Conclusions. Analysis of the research results has emphasized some aspects related to the execution technique of clean and jerk style, among which we mention: average execution speed for the three statutory attempts; average execution speed for each attempt; the ratio between barbell weight and execution speed.
