The paper is based on the 15 years of teaching experience of the author in the field of Engineering and Management with a special focus in business administration for the industry. The aim of the paper is to reveal the e-learning potentials in the field of business administration for the industry and to answer to questions about the effectiveness and efficiency of e-learning in the field, especially compared to classic approaches which do not use e-learning tools. Thus the paper analyses the e-learning potentials in the field of business administration for the industry based on a survey with graduates, students and potential candidates in the field. A special focus of the survey is the identification of those key competencies from the above mentioned field which can be accessed and developed through e-learning, as well as the role of the professors in the e-learning system. The research design is consistent with the requirements of qualitative research designs which fit excellent for exploratory research projects like this. The exploratory survey was programmed to take place in the period December 2013 - January 2014 to ensure that the information is up-to-date and uses classical survey instruments. Beyond univariate analysis of each surveyed element the research aims to identify correlations and differences between different variables corresponding to key elements of the research project. The data analysis uses the enhanced Analysis Toolpak from Microsoft Excel started with the 2010 version, including graphical formats for a better understanding of the results. The paper is concluded with the most important findings of the research. | Keywords
