THE INFLUENCE OF INTER AND INTRAMUSCULAR CO-ORDINATION ON THE DIRECT PUNCH EFFICIENCY Authors: Baitel Irina, Deliu Dan, Cordun Mariana Volume 4 | DOI: 10.12753/2066-026X-14-244 | Pages: 106-111 | Download PDF | Abstract
In this study we try to analyze inter and intra musuclar coordonation of the main muscular groups involved in the direct punch used in combat sports (martial arts, box, kick box). We will mark out the differences that appear when the same subject uses the same techique in semi (controlled impact) and full contact system.
The measurements have been made in the Biomotricity Laboratory of the National Institute fot Sport Research - Bucharest in june 2012 on a heavyweight subject, multiple national and international kick box and thai box champion. For monitoring the muscular activity we used a surface electromyography. The data was collected using the DelSys 23 equipment, with 14 electrodes applied on the belly of the muscles that are kinetic linked in the punch technique. On the electromyograph's 15th acquizition channel it was installed a pressure sensor placed on the subject's boxing glove, sensor that collects informations about the punch's contact duration with the target and it's pressure contact. Although the main muscular chain involved in the strike is a bit longer, in this article we will refer to the study of the next muscle groups: pectoral, trapezius, anterior and posterior deltoid, brachial biceps and triceps.
By using Xens MOVEN equipment in the same time we have obtained informations towords strike's cinematic parameters (velocity, acceleration, the distance travelled by the monitored segments), angles between segments and their variation in time. Correlating these informations with those obtained by electromyography, we can deduce the influence of inter and intra muscular coordonation on the speed, force or strike's impact control applied into a certain style (semi or full contact) and a certain technique (cross or jab). | Keywords
