The current tennis performances are supported by advanced technology that favors performance at the highest level. A number of devices able to assist the work of the specialist team around the tennis player were introduced, as additional means, in the training activity. Simulators are included in this category; they are used mainly in cyclical sports (rowing), but in recent years they are also used in acyclic sports, such as tennis. By using the simulator, tennis players could have huge benefits, both at mental and physical level, as the simulator creates the possibility of training in conditions similar to a tennis game. The simulator demonstrated that changing a couple of items we can find quick body answers. After these answers we can set the best exercises for each player to obtain the high performance. The research was conducted with a group of eight (8) tennis players who are included in national teams. They had simulator-assisted trainings during three calendar periods. The content of the training included both a technical component and a physical one. The technical training comprised practice of forehand, backhand and service. During the physical training, emphasis was placed on developing the specific strength of the tennis game, the speed of execution and repetition. Simulator training allows the player to become aware of the movements, and to increase his/her physical and mental capacity. In the wake of this experiment we found that the period of pre-competitive training sessions can be reduced, and tennis players can get faster in good physical shape. | Keywords
