The paper contains reflections on the course "Digital Storytelling" held as transdisciplinary discipline for 2nd and 3rd-year students of the West University of Timisoara. We started from the ideas that:
o Through a transversal course, one student enrolled in a faculty of the West University of Timisoara have the opportunity to attend 3-7 transversal courses offered by the 10 other faculties from the university. By doing this they have the possibility to gather more skills necessary for their academic path, but also for developing new skills that are required in the nowadays interconnected society.
o Storytelling as a method to teach is accessible, dynamic, and can attract students' interest in deepening their understanding of the subjects taught.
o Open Educational Practices (OEP) is the use of Open Educational Resources (OER) for teaching and learning in order to innovate the learning process.
Practically, we tried to answer to the questions "why" and "how" to use storytelling in teaching and learning in the framework of a transversal discipline, and how students' construct storytelling artifacts as Open Educational Resources and improve their learning by building digital stories under the conditions of OER.
The course artifacts were analyzed particularly in the use of open educational resources and on a sentiment analysis research of the impact that this method had on students.
Moreover, we make some suggestions and recommendations that can coagulate in a coherent academic strategy of our university that will strengthen the fact that the use of such a method in various transversal disciplines is not a fad but a necessity. | Keywords
