Abstract
Training and competition planning and designing is based on the collection and processing of computer information available via the Internet.
This work will refer to certain specialized applications, mainly, to 3D maps and GPS locating systems (Global Positioning System), which can be used for the training and live monitoring of athletes during a competition, this fact decisively influencing the results obtained.
These efficient technologies available on any IT terminal, with a high accuracy level, enable us to have a virtual approach of the competition tracks under an unlimited number of versions.
The simulation shows all the characteristics for covering the track under real conditions, the advantage consisting in the fact that the generated options can be changed depending on the competition-imposed strategy or depending on the weather conditions forecasted for the next period.
Such race scenarios can be achieved with the most different variables having good effects, especially, for the extreme sports being performed over thousand kilometres where it is practically impossible for the athletes to recon the terrain during the preliminary stage of the competition
In this study, we have imagined a virtual competition training method for the Romanian Team present at the start of the Red Bull x Alps Race, organized during 07.07.2013-21.07.2013, between Salzburg and Monaco.
The research methods used were: the documentation method, the virtual simulation method, data processing and interpretation method, the graphic method.
The computer-simulation application has enabled a decrease of training costs and a substantial time saving, the athletes being able to better focus in the field, in reality, on the key segments of the track. |
