Knowledge is an important part of our lives and due to this, we have created the need to have constant access to the learning process. The concept of e-learning is an integral part of our daily work and all the improvements in e-learning are based on the evolution of society and technology. It can be seen how the technological impulse, the changes from society, the current economy and the new forms of learning, by convergence create a useful e-learning environment both in academic sector and in corporations, where it helps personal training. To emphasize the importance of e-learning today, it can be said that the evolution of e-learning is closely linked to the development of the web and semantic technologies. This has caused the e-learning business to spread rapidly in all customer segments and in new geographical areas, educational applications being the most searched and downloaded lately by users of the online environment. This article is intended to present the correspondence between e-learning and semantic web and how the e-learning is able to keep up with all the new technological era, using an adequate infrastructure. The semantic web is a good environment for e-learning, because it has a solid foundation, evolves over time, is adaptable to new initiatives and responds to the challenges posed by the ever-changing technology and sometimes unstable business environment.
