The shift in the teaching paradigm has taken instructors by surprise, but it has also affected the way in which students approach the learning of foreign languages, as well as the practical methods they employ during and after the English language course. The purpose of this article is to investigate the opinions of the beneficiaries of the ESP courses, namely students enrolled in undergraduate programmes at the Faculties of Foreign Languages and Literatures, History and Letters at the University of Bucharest. Thus, a six-section questionnaire was devised with a view to inquiring into the students' perception of the online format of the ESP course. 123 students participated in the survey - a number which we consider representative enough to allow us to draw some valid conclusions, the main point being that, generally speaking, students adapted very well to the emergency remote language learning. This was possible on the one hand because they were conversant with technology, and, on the other hand, because the platforms used successfully mimicked real-life interaction in a traditional ESP class. After having read and analysed the data obtained from the survey, we can conclude that adaptation to the new teaching and learning environment was successful and the ESP course continued to build on what had started on-campus in a resilient manner. | Keywords
