Abstract
The aim of the Romanian Smart Lab INACO is to make digital education available for as many students and teachers as possible, to meet the educational targets and to achieve the skills for the labour market of the future. A Smart Lab is a valuable tool for education, centred on students' needs, which enables the students to achieve the required skills for the jobs of the future. A Smart Lab includes, but is not limited too, 3D scanners, 3D printers, education and artificial intelligence robots, virtual reality glasses, specific graphic and software programs, bio supplies, laptops and desktops with graphic design software, interactive Smart Board, 3D pens, learning platform, computer network infrastructure and WIFI, plant lab educational hydroponics system and arts corner and personal computer ergonomic furniture with integrated touch displays could be added. The originality of the project consists in the fact that the Smart Lab is a new concept in Romanian educational field and INACO aims to provide every school in Romania with a Smart Lab. The Romanian Smart Lab INACO won The Innovative Project of the Year and was rewarded at Avanti's Awards London on March 24, 2022. Practical implications are the first eight Smart Labs in Romanian public schools and in educational centres. The Smart Lab is highly adaptable and is suitable for primary and secondary schools, for science parks, for public libraries or for training centres. The national authorities recognized the value of the INACO initiative and will include 1175 Smart Labs in the Recovery and Resilience National Plan, financed by European Union. Further research will assess the impact of the Smart Labs on the students' evaluation. |
