Career counselling is becoming an increasingly relevant process in the current configuration of the labour world and in the context of life-long education. Occurring as a specific process at the beginning of the 20th century, career counselling is even more necessary today, in the context of a fragile and unbalanced economy, undergoing a deep crisis and where many of the job-seekers had no time left for self-knowledge and selection, since they were in desperate need of a job. One of the key objectives of the Lisbon Strategy and of the European policies in the field of education and professional training aims at developing the skills required for the employability and good social integration of the young graduates of the educational and training systems.
These aspects considered, this paper aims at presenting the best practices for implementing career counselling training programmes, included in educational projects, at university level. The activities and the counselling programme entitled "The development and implementation of the professional counselling and guidance programme" lasted 6 months and they were grouped in 4 thematic categories, as follows: Communication and team work skill development; Career planning and decision-making methods; Social and emotional factor management; Organisation of individual career counselling and guidance sessions - in order to capitalise on the approach focusing on developing/practising the abovementioned skills.
The degree of satisfaction of the participants in the counselling programme was measured via a questionnaire consisting of 4 items measured with the 5-point Likert scale (1 - strongly disagree; 2 - disagree; 3 - neutral; 4 - agree; 5 - strongly agree). | Keywords
