Abstract
: The article approaches the specifics of CAD software, addressing the educational needs of students learning leather goods design. This application is included in the bachelor's curricula from the Footwear and Leather Goods Design and Technology Department,"Gheorghe Asachi" Technical University of Iasi, Romania. This software is an important tool that supports students' creativity, innovation, and productivity in learning and developing leather goods. Cleopatra software developed by Comelz, is one of the leading solutions for the leather goods designer and/or engineer, offering a balanced combination of technical and creative CAD tools. CAD (Computer Aided Design) is very user-friendly, straightforward, and easy for students to use, and keeps them focused on projects as well as the technical and design side of the product. The tool facilitates the creation of models and allows a bag to be modeled directly, thus allowing it to be examined for its functional, technological, aesthetic, and economic criteria before it is produced. In the first leather goods design courses, students learn the anatomy of a bag and its component parts. In the beginning, it is hard for students to understand all the component parts, to identify the pieces/elements, and to see them on the product, that's why the use of CAD software helps them a lot to understand the function of each part of a handbag. This tool not only helps to design a purse, to obtain the patterns, to calculate the consumption of material but also keeps students engaged and helps teachers to interact with them and to lecture the course in a creative way. This paper presents the initial stages in the process of designing e-learning tools for product development for Higher Education Students. The principal benefits of its use by students, designers, teachers, and engineers are interactivity with the design, a quick way to obtain patterns and easily modify them, and fewer physical samples. |
