Knitting is one of the most popular techniques for making fabrics by interlacing yarns. The interest in this technique lies in the variety of applications in a wide range of fields. Designing a knitted fabric is a process that requires knowledge of how to convert yarns into structures and the ability to operate the knitting machine that makes this possible. Computerized flat knitting is one of the technologies used in the production of fabrics, offering high process flexibility and a wide variety of fabric structures, all at low manufacturing costs. In addition to knitting machines, software for programming digital knitting patterns has been developed to support the design phase of pattern creation and provide knitting programs in a special language for the machine. CAD (Computer Aided Design) has caused a revolution in the textile and fashion industry, mainly because of the reduced time available for designing fabrics. The M1plus(R) software from the knitting machine manufacturer Stoll by Karl Mayer is one of the leading solutions for knitting designers and engineers and has a relevant number of technical and creative tools. The paper presents a modularized course aimed at preparing learners to use the programming tools of the CAD system to design a knitting structure. In this first knowledge module, practical step-by-step instructions are given to help the learner retain the information. This micro-learning-based material includes explanatory illustrations, short instructional videos, practical hints and mini-quizzes aimed at bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practice. A blend of practice and learning, this digital method gives learners the right tools to develop and improve technical skills for CAD systems that meet today's industry needs. | Keywords
