CALIGOLA SOFTWARE APPLICATION FOR FOOTWEAR Authors: Costea Mariana, Bodoga Alexandra, Iovan-Dragomir Alina Volume 2 | DOI: 10.12753/2066-026X-23-078 | Pages: 387-393 | Download PDF | Abstract
The utilization of CAD/CAM systems for designing and manufacturing footwear has experienced significant growth in the shoe manufacturing industry. By following a step-by-step process for designing and producing a prototype, it is possible to replicate the same workflow for executing large production orders with numerous shoe pairs required by different clients. The paper approaches the specifics of Caligola software, in connection with students' needs for learning footwear design and pattern making. This application will be included in student curricula from the Footwear Design and Technology Department, Faculty of Industrial Design and Business Management, Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iasi, Romania. The software plays a vital role in promoting creativity, innovation, and efficiency in the learning and design of footwear products. Caligola provides a balanced mix of creative and technical CAD tools that are ideal for footwear designers and engineers. The software enables the direct designing of shoes, allowing for the analysis of aesthetic, functional, economic, and technological criteria before fabrication. Caligola also supports teachers in producing realistic shoe models and automatically separating the pieces to present to students. In addition, the software includes tools for simulating real cases and costs, enabling the creation of complex datasheets with detailed information on model lines and pieces. During project presentations, students can display their models and all necessary production information, including timing and necessary materials. | Keywords
