The field of staff recruitment and selection has started to evolve, change, and adapt to the modern labour market trends. For a staff recruitment and selection process to be performed under optimal conditions, the technology, legislation, economic environment and generation evolution must be considered.
The main purpose of the recruitment process is to draw inside the organisation the human resources, acknowledged nowadays as the factor of paramount importance for the organisation survival and competitiveness. The human resources are one of the largest organisation investments.
The IT industry is continuously growing, and during the past years it did so at a fast pace, both worldwide, and nationwide. Starting from this idea, this paper aims at pinpointing both the methods used for the staff recruitment and selection in this fully expanding field, and the manners used by the members of the Human Resources Departments to approach and perform the staff recruitment process, thus selecting and employing the appropriate persons for every position made available by the organisation.
Starting from the premise that the classical recruitment methods have no longer been useful in IT for some time, we attempted to discover how the recruiters in the organisations pertaining to the IT industry in Romania reinvented and adapted the recruitment process in order to attract valuable candidates with the right abilities to contribute to the company success.
For the purposes of this research, we used the survey as a method for data collection, and the questionnaire and interview as the tools. The questionnaire was applied to the employees in the Human Resources Departments (recruiters) in order to analyse how they perform the recruitment and selection process in the IT companies where they work, and the recruiters who filled-out the questionnaires also applied the interview tool to some of the employees recruited over the past 6 months in order to gather additional information. | Keywords
